Day 23: To those who dedicate their resources for awareness...

Todays National Foster Care Month blog is dedicated to people who work tirelessly and dedicate their resources to causes like foster care. Some of these people have talents that could lead them to Hollywood for an endless pursuit of the next big blockbuster, and yet they have found reasons to dedicate their talents to helping foster youth. Porch Productions is one of these organizations who has utilized their talents and resources to chronicle the lives of youth who have aged out of care. Please do your part in passing on awareness of this great organization, and thanks to the youth who donated their lives to this movie to make a better place for our fellow youth in care.

Film Announcement Blog Announcement The long awaited and eagerly anticipated feature documentary, From Place to Place, about America’s foster care system is finished and spreading its message across the country. The film follows two modern day heroes, Mandy and Raif, for two and a half years as they age out of foster care, find their voice and set out to change the system that raised them. They are faced with the all too common struggles of life post foster care, yet they are determined to not only make it but to make a difference. The film takes many twists and turns before Mandy and Raif make it to Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and present to the Senate Caucus on Foster Youth. Their visit to DC leads to a series of meetings that culminate in the Caucus releasing a Call to Action for foster care reform. On May 17, 2011 Senators Max Baucus (D-MT) and Orin Hatch (R-UT) introduced a Bill to increase alternatives to traditional foster care and improve outcomes for kids. Beyond Washington DC, people are answering the Call to Action and joining the movement to give foster youth a Strong Voice. You can help by purchasing the film, promoting the film within your network or by organizing a community screening.
